KATHLEEN BIELAWSKI

Kathleen Bielawski is a composer, pianist and music instructor in Anchorage, Alaska.  

She is the owner of Frozen Music Productions, through which she composes and publishes her music and writing, while maintaining a successful private and classroom music teaching studio.  

Kathleen is a 2019 recipient of a

Rasmuson Foundation Individual Artist Award.  

Kathleen offers private instruction in piano, improvisation, music composition, arranging keyboard/synthesizer programming, songwriting, lyric writing and music theory.  She also offers coaching, project planning and oversight for development of individual creative and recording projects.  In addition, she teaches group classes for adults in music appreciation, songwriting/lyric writing, composition, music theory and music history.

TEACHING STYLE 

Kathleen has over 30 years of teaching experience.  She tailors her teaching to each student's abilities and musical interests.   She is more interested in nurturing passion and lifelong love of music in her students than expecting that they will each pursue a professional career in music.  She is committed to giving each student a thorough knowledge of their craft and instrument, while introducing them to all styles and genres of music and encouraging the student to have input into the types of music they decide to practice and pursue.  She finds great joy in allowing individual student musicians to develop their own musical styles through active listening to all genres and time periods of music, combined with committed practice and work in performance, music history and music theory. 

PIANO PERFORMANCE AND ORIGINAL MUSIC 

Kathleen Bielawski is available for piano performances and for commissioned original music.  She has toured nationally and internationally as a pianist, vocalist and keyboard player.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

Born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, Kathleen Bielawski holds a Master's degree in Music Composition from the New England Conservatory of Music.  She is a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (Grammy Awards).  She is a member of the Music Teachers' National Association, the Alaska Keyboard Teachers Association and the Anchorage Keyboard Teachers' Association.  She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Turnagain Community Arts Alliance in Anchorage, Alaska.
